Beaux Arts Miami weekend just ended, and I bought some really cute prints from a really cute artist named Ed King.

He's actually cuter in person :) :)

Since[info]chibi_masshuu posted this question, I would like to answer what I've been up to these days.

The first thing that musicians have to do when you get to a new place is, of course, networking. Because we are not in 9 to 5 office jobs, we need as much connection, basically a lot of "notice me notice me notice me!"

Also, if any of you are in the doctoral program, you will know that we have to teach undergraduate courses, and I am doing that exactly.  I teach 2 courses, assists 1 class, and I have 3 private students that I teach.

I also give exams to the students in addition to take exams for my classes.

Teaching, praciticing and studying takes up 60% of my time.

And, I also met this guy named Ernesto, a Cuban-American who already established his name as a opera singer in Switzerland before moving to his home in Miami. I accompany him on piano for Opera auditions and his lessons. There goes 20% of my time.

10% of my time, I spend commuting. I decided not to get a car, so I commute by bus and train, which is not as bad as many people think. It just takes time.

Other 10% of the time, I am doing my laundry, having sex with strangers and drinking.
Yes, I am drinking every Friday because there's a place where I can get free drink :)

So that goes my life in Miami. I'm keeping it busy, but it's fun :) But I hardly have any time to watch TV any more. I do watch Wonderfalls on DVD, and watch Ugly Betty on ABC.com. That's about it. :)

If you are a regular lazy bum, you would hate my life, but I'm loving it :) It's so nice to be open about the sexuality, working hard, taking care of my students. In a way, I feel like I suddenly became a dad.

Dear LJ Friends,

Dear LJ Friends,

So, it's been almost a week since I moved to MIami.
And I love it here!!

Sure, the ghetto is depressing, but unlike Cleveland, there are enough places to make me happy to forget about the bad part of Miami; South Beach is awesome, and there are wonderful malls like Sunset Place, Mary Brickel Village etc. Those who know me know that I love upscale malls, and that's like a staple for me. So far I only explored just two malls, but it seems that there are tons!!

Basically I just want to tell you all that I am very happy here. So happy that I don't really feel the need to update my LJ. I used LJ to complain about my life in Cleveland, but now that I have nothing to complain about, I don't really have any materials to write any more.

I might encounter some stress once the school starts, but I have a feeling I could release the tension by going to the malls instead of writing and thinking about the situation.

My state of mind is very zen, and I am very thankful for Miami, for all the upscale malls that exist in Miami, and wonderful beach.

May peace be with you,
Nu-

Going Down my Memory Lane with Kylie

  • Jul. 20th, 2008 at 1:33 PM
MariahSezHola

So, today's my last day of my moving sale. I sold most of my stuff, and it's pretty quiet here.

So I had a lot of time tracing my memories back in Florida (For those of you who don't know me well, I lived in the suburb of Orlando, FL), and I started watching Kylie's "Love At First Sight."

This used to be my theme song when I was totally in love with this guy Jeff, who was a mellow rocker and also a lifeguard at YMCA Pool.

Those were good ol' days.
and I hope to make good memories once I get to Miami.....

It was love... it was love.... it was love... it was love......
oooohhhhhh

it was love... it was love.... it was love.... it was love.....

I want WALL-E to be my Boyfriend :)

MariahSezHola

Watched Wall-E for the fourth time... Damn, this movie is good...

Also, after some extensive research, I learned that the videotape that he constantly watch within this movie is a scene from "Hello Dolly!" (More specifically, "Put on Sunday Clothes" by Michael Crawford and "It Only Takes A Moment" by Michael Crawford with Marianne McAndrew)

DAMN! He would totally make my perfect boyfriend!
I mean, he's cute, he's romantic , a diligent worker and he likes musical.

I wish he lived in this world, but he's not supposed to come to existance until 2815, so I have to give him up because I don't think I can wait that long...
Instead, I will keep seeing this movie :D

I woke up really depressed this morning.  I don't know why.  I shouldn't be depressed. I watched Sex and the City movie again last night. That should have made me happy.

I don't want to be like a monopausal woman.

Totally in love with Wall-E

MariahSezHola
A s  Sex and the City movie left theatres, Wall-E became my new addidction.
It was the most romantic robot movies that I've ever seen.

W all-E (pic below) was so romantic and daydreamy.
I could totally see myself in place of him because he is basically me!! (minus some sluttiness)

I have a feeling I'm going to see this movie at least 5 more times....

So addicted to Jennifer Hudson....

  • Jun. 29th, 2008 at 11:08 AM
WinniethePooh!
So, I've been addicted to Sex and the City, I probably watched it at least 10 times by now.

And I am also addicted to the ending theme song by Jennifer Hudson.

I love the old-school vibe a la Dreamgirls, a genre in which J-Hud always excels, and the lyric is cleverly written integrating the idea of 'Labels' and 'Love', and it gives a contrast to the opening theme by Fergie, which is more about labels than love.

When you can wear what you feel
What do you wanna say?
Now love is a little number that you can wear each day
As long as you let me be the accessory
Simply send me on my way
'Cause I love love
I look good in love

When it’s been out of sight and out of mind for such a long time
That’s how one forgets
So I reached in the back of my closet, pulled it out
And tried it on and it still fits

Some cover their pain up with lots of MAC make-up
But I can’t help but blush
Because I’m in love
All dressed up in love

(Chorus)
Cool in the summer, warm in the winter
I’m all dressed up in love
And I’m cool in the summer, warm in the winter

Cuz I’m in love
All dressed up in love

People are looking, some people staring
I don’t know it, when they ask me what I’m wearing
See this ole' thing, it’s made for any weather
My friend and I sit down and we both make it together

Now if you really want one of your own
I hope your shoes are made for walking
Cuz I found love, and you must find love

(Chorus)
Cool in the summer, warm in the winter
I’m dressed up in love
I’m cool in the summer, warm in the winter

'Cuz I found love,
And you must find love

I am watching Sex and the City: 4th Season, and, I don't know, it wasn't as good as I remembered it to be.

T he Fourth Season has been there with me; it was my therapy, my friend, and my Bible since my junior year in college.  Now I'm not sure if I would watch this when I had a bad day....

Maybe I replaced my religion for Sex and the City 4th Season with Sex and the City: the Movie. Did my taste change, or did the world provide me with better options?

Or, did I simply just grow up to be 26?

Graphic Description of My Political View

  • Jun. 11th, 2008 at 8:51 AM
MariahSezHola
Social Liberal on political map
Liberal, but not Liberatarian.

You want government out of people's personal lives, but you appear to desire some continued government control over people's economic activities. There is no political party that represents your views. The Green Party does run many candidates with similar views, but the overall Green Party platform is much more socialistic than you are. You would need a mix of Democratic, Green, and Libertarian politicians in office to get the balance of freedom and social justice you desire. The ratio between these depends on how high up your dot is on the chart.

Approximately 12% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 18% for all liberals outside the centrist circle.

(complete sentences coming later) Orlando suburb. straight and gay dont mix;t busy w. Their own lives: place for offtheboat immigrants: 'urban' 4 farmers perspective e.g. Ppl from Tampa, bradenton, st pete; gay areas rnt miniscule compared to miami and ny: too many kids: culturally more deep south and l.a. Than lets say ny or miami beach. Advantages cheap. Disadvantages kids driven. Only industry there r tourism and financial sectors. Lack of theatres. Gay area too small. Ppl cannot understand the concept of asian.american (southern influence?).

Sex and the City: the Movie was amazing.

MariahSezHola
Im updating from my cell phone so I apologize 4 the lack of coherence in advance. SATC movie was much better than I expected. It was more about human relationship than sex. When u hear marriage, ppl think it's all about obligations, but it needs 2 b about how happy u r in a relationship. If u rnt happy, u need 2 say so courteosly 2 ur partner. Silence isnt always golden. I love Samantha so much more in this movie 4 all the abstinence she went thru. I love this flick, and seriously this should be the New Testament in the Bible!

Russell Peters saved my life

  • May. 23rd, 2008 at 9:43 AM
MariahSezHola

T his is my 4th day in Columbus, OH, and I went to see comedian Russell Peters a couple of night ago.

F or those of you who don't know, Russell Peters is a Indian-Canadian comedian who tells a story about his experience as Indian-Canadian. Kinda like Margaret Cho, although his material is less gay (although he's gay-friendly.)

R ussell was funnier than I ever expected. He was quick, smart and well-travelled. Basically he knows how to make audience laugh!

T here was a part in his comedy that I really identified with when he first went to India. He said that he always identified himself as Indian until he got to India, where he couldn't stand the smell and turned into Canadian SO FAST.

W atching Russell Peters made me laugh so hard, but more importantly, his comedy made assure my existence in this world.

Growing up,  I was in a highly competitive world of classical music really early, and that limited my social part of my childhood.s felt lonely, and my peer white kids made sure so affirmatively that I am definitely not like them, which I always knew somewhere in my heart, but it was tough taking in that type of solidarity when you were 5.

A fter I enrolled myself to a regular Japanese high school consisting of 100% Japanese student body), I also found myself in no place at school, and became lonelier than ever. Apparently for the 'true' Japanese, I missed out the whole childhood of my life living as Japanese that I cannot even get back into it. This led me to my existential crisis.

To this day, I swing between 'trying to be Asian' and 'expressing my-real-self'.  I always have to subdue myself because real-me won't get me nowhere.

W atching Russell Peter is comforting because he doesn't sugarcoat anything he says. And in fact, what he says is what I have been always feeling/thinking, yet I could not say that out loud because there are always somebody from that culture present in my surrounding.

I t was Margaret Cho who first saved me from existential crisis, and now I see a lot of comedians, including Russell, on media who became successful by telling the truth to the world. Watching people like them, I am so certain that the world is becoming a better place for sure, at least for me, and regain my will to live :)

T hank you Russell Peters, you are my God now !!

Mariah to Marry A Cute Black Boy

  • May. 11th, 2008 at 10:23 AM
MariahSezHola
I was doubtful about this news at first, but ever since Oprah confirmed it, I know it's true.

For those of who are not subscribed to Mariah Watch, Mariah Carey married a cute black guy named Nick Cannon last week in the Bahamas (see pic below).

I feel really happy that she found love, especially in a cute, handsome & ripped guy like Nick Cannon. As me being a former black girl wannabe, I gave her 100% respect for marrying this fine man. I'm sure Nick is great to be around (and probably tactful in bed ;) ), and that will give me another reason to adore Mariah Carey and wish to be her.

Anyhoot, Congrats, Mariah!!! Hooray :D

Totally Spanish-ed out...

MariahSezHola
I've been trying to finish the stupid Spanish Workbook and Labbook all day today..

While I'm learning a lot  by doing that, it's irritating how much I have to do...
And the finals are still like 2 weeks away... :P
*sigh*

I'm That Chick

  • Mar. 26th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
MariahSezHola
I'm sorry for the readers who aren't big fan of Mariah, but she's like my God (with capital G), so I have to write about her all the time.

So, I finally found her performance of "I'm That Chick", a new song from her upcoming album that wasn't aired on "The Hills" Premiere. I must say, THIS is probably my MOST FAVORITE track so far from her Einstein-formula album. ;) :)

Don't get me wrong. "Touch My Body" is a really cute song, but she could not seem to execute that song live (Too many syllables, perhaps?), and I still can't remember how the melody goes on "Migrate (feat. T-Pain)".

In "I'm That Chick", Mariah takes us back to an ol'-skool disco.  It almost sounds like it's right off her appearance on "Diva's Live: Tribute to Diana Ross." There isn't really a vocal moment, but thanks to its low syllable-per-minute ratio, Mariah sounds like she's singing instead of whisper-talking.

So, enjoy this video until it gets removed by the stupid TV execs.... :X

MariahSezHola
So, we're having another snow with gusty wind in Cleveland. It started out as rain, but some time in the afternoon, it turned into snow. *sigh*

So, to escape from the reality of depressing Cleveland weather, I opened Mariahdaily.com (like I usually do), and found out she finally unveiled the art cover for her new album, E=MC2!

Okay. At first I thought she rented the swan costume that Bjork worn on her red carpet, but realized 3 minutes later it was a fluffy rug. Then I looked more closely for about another 4 minutes and noticed she's actually covering herself with that white rug. Then, another minutes later, I noticed her legs showing..

Finally I got it!! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SEXY SHOT!! :D
But I wonder how good this sexy shot is because it took me almost 15 minutes to find that this is a sexy photo!

Her Emancipation Album cover was so strong it conveyed her sexiness at a first glimpse.

A golden outfit, Excessive fake tan, poise, flying hair: Everything was SOOO RIGHT  about this photo..

I love Mariah any way, so I'll buy her new CD, but I was expecting more for the cover photo because she claimed E=MC2 is like 'an evolution from Mimi album...'

Or perhaps, she intentionally played it safer and subdued because almost everybody in the media complained that she dressed too skimpy...... she shouldn't be compromising her outfit based on some commentator , but I understand if I were a girl, I'd probably want those guys to like me, so I understand where she's coming from.

Anyhoot, can't wait to hear her ballads!! :)

As a part of sociology study, I just watched the Real Wives of New York City, which is a spinoff series from the Real Wives of Orange County. Personally, I liked Orange County one better.

Wives of OC are basically like the girls from America's Next Top Model, while Real Wives of NYC are much more like Sex and the City except the fact all these wives have potential to be Samantha but are too afraid to show it!! *sigh*
Moreover, what I don't like about wives of NYC is that they make the lives in NYC kind of boring... Sure, they go to the Hamptons and they go to events and stuff, but everything seems so low-key and serious I wonder if they ever laugh.... :X

But I guess that's the East Coast.

Mariah's Performances on SNL

  • Mar. 16th, 2008 at 7:10 PM
MariahSezHola
So, I finally saw Mariah perform on SNL (well, on youtube, to be more exact)!

It was good, but it wasn't something that I expected...:X
I thought she would do more vocal embellishment because that's what she's known for, but her "Touch My Body" performance at SNL was almost as exact as her recording. (Except some parts where she handed her part to a backup vocals to catch some breaths).

I love when she makes a totally different live version out of her studio recording ver. (like "It's Like That" on Ellen!), but maybe these songs are m too new for her and her audience to go 'extra miles'.

Oh! And I hope she'll have some ballads in her new album. I love hearing her sing out the ballads!

FYR(For Your Reference) ;)
